Tags

Description

Tags are used to categorize data in CiviCRM. They are also used in SearchKit to categorize your searches, such as by Department or Initiative. Tags can be enabled for one or multiple of the following: Contact, Activity, Case, File, and SavedSearch.

Tags become especially valuable as you add more Saved Searches to your system. From the SearchKit landing page, which displays saved searches, you will see an option for “Filter by tags…” on the upper right side of the search listing. This feature allows you to select one or more tags for filtering your saved searches.

Saved search example

You can add Tags to SearchKit searches in three ways. 1. Creating a new search 1. Editing an existing search 1. Updating an existing search from the Saved Searches main screen

Use these following steps for adding a tag to a new search or when editing an existing search:

Click “Configure Settings” on the leftside bar menu to show the Tags box.

Click configure settings

Click on the Tags box to select from existing tags or add new tags to the system, as shown in this window.

Select or add tags

Alternatively, you can add tags from the Saved Search landing page by clicking the tag icon with the down arrow.

Add tag from saved search

Begin typing in the “Add tag…” tag field. Matching results will display or you will have the option to “Create Tag.” This will add a new tag to CiviCRM enabled for “SavedSearch,” allowing it to be used elsewhere in the system, such as from Advanced Search.
