Purchase transactions

Purchase transactions happen when someone invests in a society.

Each purchase transaction has an accompanying Certificate, which you can view from the purchase transaction.

Creating purchase transactions from contributions

A common way to create a purchase transaction is to find a contribution in CiviCRM and Create a purchase transaction for this contribution.

This is useful, for example, if you are using CiviContribute to raise capital for your Issue as the records of the conrtibutions will already be in CiviCRM.

The process is as follows:

  1. Go to Contributions > Find Contributions
  2. Find the contributions that you want to create purchase transactions for
  3. Select Shares - Create Purchase Transactions from the Actions menu.
  4. Choose the Issue that you want to create Purchase transactions in
  5. Preview what transactions will be created.
  6. Confirm the creation of the purchases if you are happy (you can choose a date for these transactions or use today's date as the default)

When you create a Purchase Transaction, a Share Certificate will be enqueued ready to be sent to the investor.

On behalf of purchases

Share purchases can be made on behalf of others. Each purchase can be made of behalf of an most one other person.

Lets say that Mary invested £300 - £100 for herself and £100 for her two grandchildren Oscar and Isaac. This would be represented as three purchase transactions, one for her and one for each of her grandchildren.

If you want 'on behalf of' information to be You will need to configure an 'On behalf of' field in CiviShares settings.
